Early MGB Polarity Change and Generator to Alternator Conversion
January 15, 2005 - 10:00 am-???

Downers Grove, Illinois
Yes, it is a heated garage.

Changing electrical system from positive to negative ground on a 1967 MGB, and installing an alternator in place of the generator. We will be reversing battery and changing connectors, reversing the diode in the fuel pump, converting the tachometer, and reversing coil wires.

The alternator installation should be a cinch, starting with a Moss Motors alternator conversion kit and full instructions. The fun bit is switching a few wires on the voltage regulator to bypass/disable it, as the new alternator has internal regulator. I haven’t decided yet if the old control box will be removed.
