Spring Chicken Rally

May 6, 2001

by David Lieb

What could be better than a top-down rally followed by a good meal in the company of MG people? Well, it would have been nice if I had still been dry when I got home that night, but let's not get too fussy. Has anyone come up with a tonneau cover that fits around you like a kayak?

The Spring Chicken Rally was well-attended with twenty-four MGs and a TR6 competing. There was a bit of confusion about the location (quite a few of us found the Menard's just North of 53 before the one just South of 53), the time (Don really meant 11:00 registration although the Driveline had said 10:00 on the rally page and 10:30 on the new business page), and the price (it was supposed to have gone up to $12, but we were able to persuade Don otherwise). There was even some confusion about how to count stoplights (I guess we were supposed to use the rule that anything higher than one is two). In any event, it all added up to a great time driving our LBCs!

Since we all obediently turned right at the second stoplight as instructed and followed Boughten Road to the T at Plainfield Naperville Road, we got to see a lot more LBCs than we usually do during a rally, some of them multiple times! Fortunately, the last question allowed you estimate or calculate your mileage. I believe that everybody eventually made it to White Fence Farm.
