The CMGC is doing a project car!

On Sunday May 21st, Russ Mehaffey, Don Walega, and I took a real good look at the '77 MGB donated by Jim Evans. The most obvious thing it needs is some sheet metal repair and replacement, paint, interior work, and there's no engine or gearbox in the car. There is an engine that ran and a pair of transmissions that need checking over. The suspension needs new rubber or poly bushes, and it needs new pads and rotors in addition to making sure the brakes are absolutely up to snuff. There's at least a little work to be done on most aspects of the car so there's something for most folks to learn about from working on this car. We will start by tackling the bodywork. There is some parts removal that needs to happen, but not too much before we can start cutting out old sheet metal. The next session will be at my shop in Homewood on Sunday, June 4th. This is the same day as the AHCA Gymkhana, but feel free to come late if you want to do both activities. It couldn't hurt to call first, though.

Upcoming Project car dates:
Sun. June 4 - begin the sill repair.
I will be gone on vacation from June 10 through the 18th, so y'all can't get in to the shop. If someone wants to host work on the transmission, feel free to contact me and you can take the trannys and get the word out.
Sat. June 24 - continue with the bodywork repair.
Sat. July 8 - continue with the bodywork repair, or move on to the next phase.
Sat. July 15 - Hopefully by now we'll be on to the next phase, which would be brake and suspension repair.

Unless I'm out of town, look for a project car tech session every Saturday (or Sunday if there's a club event on Saturday). I will be up in Wisconsin the 3rd or 4th week of July. As of press time I don't have those dates yet.
