Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline June 2009

the tag of MG Club. All rooms are 2 full size bed type at a rate of $80.00. Phone 815 599 8510.
For Saturday night the primary hotel, The Landing, is sold out. You can always check to see if any cancellations have opened up a room. The phone number is 563 252 1615.. The alternate hotel is a couple miles up the road on a bluff overlooking the river. It’s an older, standard strip motel, truly a mom and pop operation. The rooms are plain and basic and I can assure you the place is clean. The major attraction here is that all the rooms are on a deck that faces an elevated panoramic view of the river basin. I would expect the sunrise to be spectacular. Rates are $44 to $57. It’s the Eagles View at phone 563 252 1653.
If you plan to attend please notify me by e-mail, danherm@jcwifi.com or phone, 815 238 7356 so I can include you on my information update list and better plan hotels and restaurants.
We hope you can join us for an MG friendly weekend. The fun of the curvy road driving, exploring unusual attractions, and enjoying good food and drink is made even better by the companionship of the great members of the CMGC.

Land’s End Rally
July 11, 2009 - 10:30 AM

The start point is just south of I-88 on IL-31. Meeting time is noted as 10:30-am, expect a SHORT drivers meeting at 10:50-am, and first car off at 11:00-am. All rally materials will be available immediately at registration, so come early for best advantage. There are fast food and breakfast shops and fuel stops immediately south of the meeting point. There will be some additional facilities sprinkled along the rally route.
Due to club demand, this will be a shorter driving event than originally planned. It will definitely be less than 100 miles, don't know how much less yet. Therefore it can not get into Wisconsin like I had first planned (sorry). It will start and end in a more convenient location for our members near an expressway, there will be some traffic lights and likely more urban and lots less rural roads (sorry, sorry, sorry). The theater parking lot is a suitable location to leave a car parked for the day if needed. This is the same starting point used for the Morris Garages Rally a couple years earlier. The ending point will be very near the starting point, possibly at Culver's, almost across the street from the start point. If you don't have a navigator, feel free to come and join up with someone at the starting point.
Expect a short route out of town followed by as much rural roads as can be found in the time allowed. The shorter rally will probably not have a programmed mid-rally break, but you can take a break any time you like. This will be a gimmick rally, so there will be questions to answer and papers to score when finished. Hopefully the ending time will be no later than 3-pm, followed by a little chat and rest break for scoring and awards.
