24th Annual American MGB Association Meet
JUNE 1-2, 2001 - Houston, Texas U. S. A.

From: “American MGB Association”
Subject: American MGB Association Meet 2001 (text version)
Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2001 14:13:49 -0500

In conjunction with the Houston MG Club’s
All British Motor Vehicle Exposition (HABMVE)

The American MGB Association held its annual Meet on June 2nd, 2001 in Houston, Texas. This was our second trip to Texas; the first being San Antonio in 1986. This year’s event was held in conjunction with the Houston All British Vehicle Expo at Trader’s Village. Trader’s Village is a popular swap meet area in northwest Houston where you can buy everything from puppies to pot holders.

Luckily our event was held under large fixed canopies which provided welcome relief from the 90 plus degree day. All British marques were well represented with Bs in the majority.

In addition to the popular car vote car show there was a hotly contested valve cover race and slalom in which our coordinator, Dwight Dawson participated.

The AMGBA conducted a popular vote car show for its members. There were rows and rows of MGs from early Bs through Limited Editions including Midgets. Margie Johnson, our secretary handled the awards presentation. It was great to meet many of our long time members from Houston and the surrounding area. The American MGB Association table was kept busy all day signing up new members and providing other member services.

The American MGB Association wishes to thank everyone that attended and Dwight Dawson, Ron Redding, the Houston MG Car Club and the staff for a well organized event.

Winners of the American MGB Association popular vote were as follows:

RUBBER BUMPER MGBs
1. ’80, black L.E. - Wayne & June Harris, River Ridge, LA
2. ’80, black - Ron Redding, Houston, TX
3. ’79 green - Wayne Kube, Dallas, TX

CHROME BUMPER MGBs
1. ’74, green - Peter Canovas, Humble, TX
2. ’73, blaze - Dwight Dawson, Houston, TX
3. ’70, red - Burl & Pam Lane, Fulshear, TX

MG MIDGET
1. ’72, green - James & Cindy Rothermet, Alvin, TX
2. ’74, red - Mark & Peggy Roby, Houston, TX
3. ’75, red - Frank Smith, Shreveport, LA
