We are into the driving season and it's going well. We have had the Spring Chicken Rallye, The Landsend Rallye, and the Midsummer autocross.

The Spring Chicken Rallye had great weather. There was a lot of MG's in this event which used line drawings for directions. I found out my Navigator cannot read maps. This is something I'm going to have to work on.

The Landsend Rallye also had good weather. We were driving on MG roads all the way. There was also a good turnout for this event. My Navigator is learning to read maps as we only got lost twice. Everyone enjoyed the ice-cream Sundays we had at our lunch stop.

The autocross was different from most with three parking slots and backward driving through a slalom. I had left the hatch open on my GT so I could backup in the slalom. This worked out fairly well. Two other things that we learned were. If a float is stuck a tap with a small hammer can unstick it and don't forget to tighten your Distributor or it can pop out (I've had this happen on my cars before).

There are plenty of driving events coming up so plan on coming out and trying your hand at a few. It's a lot of fun to play with fellow MG pilots and doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get into it.

Keep the rubber side down,
Mike Olsen
