MINUTES FOR MEETING
August 18, 2003

    The meeting was called to order at 8:02 by Bill Mennell. There were 40 members in attendance. We had one new member, Ken Sabey, owner of a ‘73B.

OLD BUSINESS

Mike Hirsch     August 10th Bob Brownlow hosted a tech session to resurrect an MGB that had been sitting for many years. After doing all the necessary tasks, the cars started up easily.
    August 15-17 was our annual Abingdon weekend. Approximately 65 people were registered and about 55 cars were in the car show. There was great weather for the weekend.
    Howard Turk reviewed the library.
    Dave Ransom talked about regalia.

UPCOMING EVENTS

    August 24th is our Warrenville AMC Gymkhana. Starts at 9:00 AM
    September 7th is the annual British Car Fest to be held at the Morraine Valley College. This is the largest British Cr show iln the US and possibly the world.
    December 13 is our annual Christmas party to be held at the Elmhurst Banguet Hall. It is about 6900 W. Grand in Elmhurst. More details to follow.
    George Goeppner is still collecting model cars for the Mercy Home for Boys. He plans to donate them to the home for Christmas. He will accept donations through the November meeting.
    Walt Wiburg talked about the annual Ronald McDonald house raffle. This years grand prize is a 1955 Chevy Bel Air convertible. Details on their web site.
    Randy Hufzenga is offering winter storage in an airplane hanger in Romeoville. Contact him at 708.403.8642 (Eve) or 224.625.8211 (Day) if interested.
    Dave Lieb talked about upcoming driving events. On 8/23 we are invited to the Miata Autocross at Joliet College. We are invited to the 8/23 Austin Healey Autocross. This is a points event for the CMGC. On 9/27 we are having the Lucas Night Ralley, starting in Barrington.

    The 50/50 raffle was won by Jim Michel, $28.00.

    The night’s program was Don Anderson talking about autocrossing.
