The Steering Column

We are back on the road again this month. As you may well know women can steer and talk (write) at the same time. So here goes!

Are we there yet? Do these words sound familiar? They sure do to me. It was the question our children would ask whenever we started out on a long, vacation motor trip. Today in my MG life those words mean we are almost to the end of the driving season. It has been a very eventful year. We put many miles on our two MG’s this summer and still managed to miss some of the driving events, job and family affairs have a way of intruding in our fun. I know many of you participated in the driving competitions, rallies, etc. If you were unable to join in the fun this year you missed some swell events. However, you still have a chance to enjoy one more outing - the Halloween Rally. It is sort of the last hurrah of the driving season, let’s end it with a big show of cars.

Are we there yet? To me it means the end of a three-year run as co-chairperson. Now mind you, I have thoroughly enjoyed steering and representing this club these past three years but far be it from me to keep someone else from having the same pleasure! At the October meeting we will accept nominations for new officers. There are many members out there who have never held a position on the board. I encourage you to put your name on the ballot. This is a good way to bring new views and fresh ideas to our club.

Well, we are almost there but take heart. We can now look forward to giving our cars a rest, perhaps installing those new parts that were bought at the various events this past summer. Some of us need to catch up on work around the house.

But before we get started on that , don’t forget the Christmas Party. It will be held on December 02, at Patsby’s Restaurant in Chicago Ridge, IL. This is a good way to relax and end the year with some of the best people we know. We will enjoy dinner, reminisce about the past summer, and perhaps enjoy some music & dancing. Details to follow.

Thank you and may you continue to enjoy safe driving.
