  We will be meeting at the Belvidere oasis on the I-90 tollway just east of Rockford. If you don’t want to drive on the tollway you can take US-20 and slip right into the oasis from there. We will be meeting at 9:00 am and leaving by 9:30 am. The caravan (or independent cars) will take US-20 bypass around Rockford and on to Freeport to the Stagecoach Trail, which ultimately ends in Galena. Along the Stagecoach Trail we will be passing through Lena, Nora, Warren, Apple River, Scales Mound (highest point in Illinois), and on to Galena. The tour should be about 5 to 6 hours, depending on how often you stop for sight-seeing.

We will be stopping for lunch at Boone’s restaurant and Pub in Galena. The Galena fall festival will be on. Also plan on stopping at the Wineries (plural) in Galena for tasting and tempting.
