Greetings! September was another fantastic month for those of us fortunate enough to own and drive MG's.

Our September rally was the Donald Healey Rally held in conjunction with the British Car Festival. It was organized by the Austin Healy club. I have not gotten the results yet, but I heard we had two teams in the top four. I didn't get to participate in this rally, but they certainly had a nice day for the run.

The 19th Annual British Car Festival was September 11th. Kim Tonry and I caravanned over to Palos for the show. I had traffic duty at the turn into the registration tent from 9AM to 10. What an experience! I got to watch dozens of beautiful British cars drive around the corner and up a long straight before passing me. I have already put in my request to control traffic at the same time and place next year. There was one vintage British fire truck which was most interesting. I spent most of the day walking around the show enjoying all the beautiful cars. There was a white Jaguar XK-120 that reminded me of the car my neighbor had when I was growing up. That is probably where I caught the bug. We all had a great time sitting in the club's tent enjoying soda and conversation. The show was over all too soon and it was time to head home. I drove most of the way with a nice green TR3.

The Wine, Cheese and Beer tour was the weekend of the 17th and 18th. We had perfect weather for our drive through the Wisconsin countryside. I had almost as much fun planning the drive as driving it. We had eleven MG's, three modern cars, and a Harley for all or part of the tour. It was so much fun, Ann and I have decided to call it the First Annual Wine, Cheese, and Beer Tour. We are already thinking about next year's trip.

Abingdon Weekend is just a week away. We have over thirty cars signed up. Bob has planned an exciting weekend for us. There will be three driving events, a car show, hospitality suite, and lots of good food. This is the first time Ann and I have been able to make the trip and we are really looking forward to it. Bob will be there Thursday, the 6th. If anyone wants to caravan over, we are meeting at 10 AM, Friday at US route 34 (Ogden Avenue) and IL route 47 in Yorkville. As I was writing this, I got a call from a newer MG owner in Lorraine, IL which is near Quincy. He and his wife plan to stop over to visit while we are in Abingdon. I always look forward to meeting new people at the different events Ann and I attend.

While the driving season is winding down, there are still many driving opportunities and events left this year. We have an Autocross on October 23 and our annual Halloween Rally on the 30th. There will be lots of days this fall for some fun drive in our MGs. I hope you are able to take advantage of as many of them as possible.

See you on the road!
