It’s hard to believe that another year has gone by. Rallies, tours, trips, and tech sessions all blur together in memory. Conventions, car shows, and more. I note with pleasure that some of our activities have brought interested new members into the group while others have brought out older members that we haven’t seen for some time. There is no question that the right mix of activities and offerings produces enthusiasm for club events. And also no question that some tinkering with long standing recipes is often in order to the benefit of the membership. Our club follows a seasonal pattern of activity with a slowdown over the winter months (and you all know that there is no club meeting in December, right?) with the annual Holiday Party being the last event of the season. However, plans are already underway for next year’s agenda: we will again have a weekend trip via Amtrak to an auto related destination in January and our “All British Car Swap Meet & Autojumble” is scheduled for late February. Next year, some things will be new and some will be old and some will be old but tinkered with in the hopes of improvement. An approach that can be used in other areas of life, too: this autumn, I had a new garage built, and the first tenant is my original MGB which has been in storage for 7 years and a work in progress for several before that. It is now in much the same condition as the club Project Car was last spring, needing refurbishing of parts and total reassembly. Some tinkering to be done there also, with a mix of old and new in the final product. It will be fun to put this car back on the road again after all the time without it, and I am looking forward the task and to bringing it out to club events this season.
Finally, on behalf of the club directors and staff members, I would like to thank you all for your participation in and contribution to club activities over the last year. Your enthusiasm is the best measure of our success and I hope we meet your expectations again next year.
Safety Fast, - Jim
