Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline December 2009

Monthly Garage Keeping

On Demand Regalia
As mentioned in the last Driveline, we have been working on a system where you can purchase club regalia on line.  We now have now set up two web sites where you can purchase regalia with our club logo embroidered onto various articles of clothing. You can visit the sites and compare quality, items, and pricing and now make purchases in time for the Holidays. Items will be shipped to the location that you specify, and payment must be made at the time of order by credit card.
One site is Triple-C and many of you are familiar with them.  The clothing is found in "Apparel" located in the left column on their home page.  Our embroidered logo is set up in their system, so you have to specify our club name (Chicagoland MG Club) where it asks for the design.  The remainder of the transaction should be like any other Internet purchase. The Triple C site is at: http://www.triple-c.com/index.cfm
The second site is Fieldhouse. This is a group that specializes in products that are school and organization based,; they are not specifically car based,  but they have a good range of products at pretty good prices.  They have four color patters of our logo so you can select the color of the item and coordinate the color logo that matches your individual taste.  Because this is our club's individual store site, it is easier to navigate.  They also have provided a 10% discount to any members that place an order by November 30.  Just add the discount code  "Winter09" at checkout. The site is at:   http://www.fieldhouse.com/mg
Please visit these sites and check them out.  They both carry a variety of items, sizes and specific clothing for ladies and children.
George Phariss, our temporary regalia administrator, has found an MG person that makes custom clocks at a very reasonable price.  Contact George for information on how to order these clocks with our MG club badge on the face of the clock.

Voting
Club members are encouraged to return the ballot found in this newsletter. Even though all officer positions are uncontested, your effort is taken as a sign of appreciation by those who are willing to help the club along for he coming year.

Swap Meet
The All British Car Swap Meet and Autojumble has been scheduled for February 28, 2010. As in the past, this event will take place at the DuPage County Fairgrounds from 8 Am to 3 PM. The club will again need some volunteers to help out with setup, ticket taking, and cleanup. Sign up sheets will be available at both the January and February meetings, or call Jim Evans at 630-858-8192 to volunteer.

Dues Due or Adieux
Annual club dues of $25 are due from all members on January 1, regardless of when they joined the club as all members’ dues now cycle on the first of the year. Please use the return envelope

enclosed with this copy of the Driveline to remit you dues. Members who fail to renew during the month of January will be dropped from further mailings. Please do not include voting ballots with the dues envelopes.

MG Bucks Roundup –II
This year’s MG Bucks program is drawing to a close, and we would like to make sure that everyone gets credit for all eligible activities. MG Bucks will be distributed in early December and can be used to reduce dues or club regalia purchases (does not include the new online regalia offerings). This year, MG Bucks were awarded for: wearing an MG event oriented garment to a club meeting (no hats, please) and entering your car in one of the five car shows endorsed by the club. Please check the MG Bucks tally sheet posted on the website; if you are not listed to receive an MG Buck that you deserve, please contact Jim Evans with your information.

“Even” Natter ‘n’ Noggin
December is an even Month and that means that we are back at the Roundhead's Pizza Pub, our South location in Downers Grove. The last time we were at Roundhead's we broke all attendance records. Please come and join us again on the 8th for a drink, a bite, and some MG tire kicking. We have reservations from 7:00 PM under the MG Club name. The restaurant knows that were are not coming all at the same time and that we like separate checks.
And please remember that we've been lucky to find locations that still accept our separate check requirement and don't add-in the gratuity. Please keep that in mind and tip the waitresses generously, please!

Even Month Natter 'n' Noggin on Tuesday December 8.
