CHAMPAGNE
BRITISH CAR FESTIVAL

June 4 –6 recap
CMGC Receives Award!

Seventeen Chicagoland MG Club members attended this year's Champagne British Car Festival the weekend of June 4-6. The event, “Movin' on Down the Road” was held in Bloomington for the first time, after many years in the Champaign-Urbana area.
Most arrived on Friday afternoon at the host hotel, Hawthorn Suites. Two activities were offered for Saturday – Tea and Lunch, at the David Davis Mansion, or Cruise and Lunch. Most of us joined the cruise to Roberts, Illinois, to Hicks Ford Dealership. The family which owns the dealership shared their collection of beautiful and rare cars, some restored and some awaiting, including a Cunningham, Maseratis and Ferraris. Then we drove to Gibson City for lunch. In the evening we went out to Goodfield, Illinois, to Conklin's Dinner Theatre for dinner and a play.
Sunday was a perfect bright and sunny summer day for the Car Show at the David Davis Mansion. 132 British cars were displayed on the lawn of the mansion.
The host club awarded a $250 check to the club with the highest attendance, other than their own, and CMGC received this award. Our members decided to donate this check to the local Cancer Fund to show our support to several of their members who are fighting this disease.
Next year marks the 20th Anniversary of this event. “Kicks on Route 66” will be held June 4 and 5, 2011. Bloomington is only 2-1/2 hours for most of us –why not put this great event on your calendar and plan to attend?
