Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline November 2012

Directions
Monthly Column of Driving Events

It will be a short column this month. Most of the 2012 Driving Season is in the books by now. Record books, I should probably say. Although I haven't totaled the standings and statistics for all events yet, I am pretty sure that it was a record year indeed. Record attendance, new rally masters, new events and no breakdowns as I recall. In next month Driveline I will have the preliminary results for the Moss Motors and Victoria British trophies. It looks like Dino Perez and Seth Jones are doing real well in the drivers competition and Lisa Perez and Sue Hansen are the leading navigators. But there are a few more events that count: The Halloween Run, The Fall Tune Down, and my favorite, The Cruise to the Rock.

The planning for the 2013 Driving Season starts soon. I would really like to hear from you what you like to see: what new events shall we include, do we need more or less, Saturday or Sunday, a few more family oriented outings, a drive-in movie, a concert at Ravinia. Be creative, expand the horizon

and think outside your MG (instead of the box). I have a few ideas myself also. I would like to see more events from the Chicagoland MG Clubs. What do I mean with that? Well, more events that we organize together. Not just inviting each other. Not just a couple of our MG's at "their" events or a few T-Types at "our" events. No, I wish we could really jointly organize driving events and call them "By the Chicagoland MG Clubs". I also hope that we can get something very good going at the Advocate Lutheran Children's Hospital picnic in early August. More about that in the January or February Driveline.

I promised to keep it short. Please give me a call at 847 342 9804 or e-mail me at reinutvogt@gmail.com if you have ideas, suggestions, or comments for the 2013 Driving Events.
