2/7/99 ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING REPORT

Superosa Restaurant, Woodridge, Illinois

The meeting was called to order by Club President Maynard Hirsch at 7:40 P.M. Officers Diana Gonzales, Steven Selan and Sharon Anderson were also present at the meeting, along with 42 members.

OFFICER REPORTS
Club President

Maynard Hirsch gave a State of the Club Address advising that the Club was in sound condition both fiscally and from a membership standpoint. He set forth a proposed schedule of events that would make this driving season the busiest in the history of the Club with different types of events to interest all of our diverse membership. Our main focus this year will be to increase membership and attract younger members. As the current membership ages, it is our desire to pass the baton on to the next generation of MG enthusiasts.

Club Secretary
Steve Selan focused on three issues of importance to the Club: membership; website; Club Roster. In the year 1998 we signed up 72 new members bringing current membership to a total of 310 families--an all time record high. Based on past trends, we anticipate attrition of about 10% annually. Our goal is to reach a membership of 350 by the year 2000. Steve thanked Scott Anderson for his efforts in bringing the website online so quickly. The site is impressive and was awarded the honor of being chosen the Illinois website of the week. Scott has committed to be webmaster for an additional year and is promising a Swap-N-Shop Page will be added for trading cars and parts. The Club Roster was mailed as promised, and we have received much positive feedback. The Club will have to decide whether or not to print an updated Roster next year. Part of the consideration was that total production costs were in the area of $825--partially offset by advertising revenue of $400. As a less expensive alternative, a modest supplement listing only new members could be printed.

Club Treasurer
Sharon Anderson presented the Treasurer's Report advising that the Club is in sound financial shape. Starting balance for the year 1998 was $9,284.83. Ending balance as of February 1,1999 is $8,224.77. Dues are just beginning to come in, and our major fundraiser, the British Swap Meet, is scheduled for February 28, 1999. We clearly have enough money to be able to conduct whatever events we decide upon.

Vice-President
Diana Gonzales thanked the Club membership for their energy, hard work, and friendship over the past year and looks forward to another year of enthusiastic support from our members.
