The Steering Column

by Maynard Hirsh, Club President

It's hard to believe that its been almost a year since I was approached about running for chairman of the Chicagoland MG Club. Time flies when you're having fun. But seriously, the October meeting is when we take nominations for officers for the next year. If you would like to run for office, be prepared to have someone offer your name, or talk to one of the officers to put your name in nomination.

As I write this, I'm still thinking of last weekend, Abingdon. Jim & Lois Evans did a marvelous job, as usual, though I did see a hint or two of Jesse. Barney Gaylord did a fine job on the gymkhana. Please let Jim and Lois know how much you appreciate their time and efforts.

Even though the season is winding down, there are still a couple of driving events left, and the Christmas party is coming up. Look elsewhere in the Driveline for more information.

Also, October is our birthday meeting. The club will be twenty-one. Considering that it has been eighteen years since the last MG was imported into this country, I am very impressed with the number of members and the enthusiasm present. Let's all work to keep this club together for at least another 21 years. Safety Fast,
