Sandpapering the pivot points
Cleaning the pivots as well as possible.

The wishbone pivots were very badly corroded and very rough. As such, it is useless to install new stock type rubber bushings here, as they would self-destruct in a short period of road use. But there is a reasonable fix without having to replace those expensive pivot brackets. The pivot pins first need to be sanded to clean off the built up corrosion. Then you can install the MGB GT-V8 type of inner pivot bushings. These bushings have a steel sleeve inside that gets bolted securely to the pivot pin and does not rotate there. As the suspension arm moves the rubber part of the bushing flexes rather than turning on the pin.
