Chicagoland MG Club
When I wished to fit a modern car stereo to my positive ground MGB, I swapped and re-polarized all the usual items: battery, coil, generator, etc. All went well for about a week when the MGB suddenly developed a misfire.
Upon inspection, I found that the polarity reversal had also reversed the metal deposition on the ignition points which sent point resistance sky-high! After point replacement the 'B was humming along fine when two weeks later, fuel pump failure struck! You guessed it, the fuel pump points showed the same problem and renewal of them has now kept the car rolling fine for over a year.
