Did you know that when rebuilding the later HIF4 carburetors, you can replace the throttle shaft bushings by driving them out with a 3/8" round bar stock available at many hardware stores for around $5.00 for a three foot length. Use the bar stock to drive out the old bushings. and then carefully replace them with new. I got this tip from Joe Curto, the SU carburetor repair shop located in NYC. I tried it and it works.
