The MGA With An Attitude
ACCESSORIES For ALL OCCASIONS - AT-081
What do you get for the guy who has everything? Maybe something that no one else has, like a rear badge bar for instance, giving a place to hang some more gadgets. Let me try to count what I see here.
Competition style sports screen.
Desmo overtaking mirrors.
Headrest fairing.
Wood rim steering wheel.
Center zip tonneau cover.
High mount third brake light.
Front and rear badge bars.
At least four badges and a rally placquard in front and four in back.
Lucas Tripod headlamps.
Two set of driving lights, possibly fog and spot lights.
Rock guards over all the lights.
Custom mesh grill to match the rock guards on lights.
Retractible antenna in the front body cowl.
Luggage rack (not factory style).
Alloy pop-up fuel filler cap.
Porcelan British flag emblems on sides.
Chromed British flag emblem on rear.
Chromed rear license frame with chrome bolts.
Chrome wire wheels.
Dual chrome tip exhaust.
??? Maybe the aluminum front bumper doesn't count as an accessory. I suppose it could still use a back-up light and white wall tires, but I would die if it got mud flaps and a Continental Kit. Notice the seasonal change of accessories, removing the racing screen and headrest fairing and installing the full windscreen and luggage rack.
Large holes in the kick panels and extended bolts make windscreen change quicker.
Under the bonnet we find:
Alternator.
Alloy valve cover.
Supercharger.
Steel braid covered oil cooler hoses.
Inside we find these bits:
MG-TD type accessory grab handle used for door pull (that can scarf your arm).
MGA Twin Cam and "Deluxe" style bright trim strip under the dash.
2-piece aluminum door scuff plate set (with MG Car Club Badge).
|
4-piece aluminum frame cover set.
Factory original style accessory wood steering wheel
Semi-modern electronic radio.
Racing style seat belts.
"MG" crested floor mats.
Wood shift knob.
2-place toggle switches for driving lights.
At least 4 dash plaques.

Ah, but he forgot the chrome speaker bezel that was fitted to Coupe, Twin Cam, "Deluxe", and 1600-MK-II (when the dash was vinyl covered). And I should check to see if he has the original MG leather key fob. Since these pictures he has added a vacuum/boost gauge and volt and amp meters in a recessed panel below the heater controls.
