SHIPPING CHARGES Can Be A Deal Killer - CF-170

I bought a local windscreen here before years ago but it was the thin glass and of course it cracked. I organized a Pilkington windscreen from Moss UK by Sea to reduce the pain of their air quote. Thought I had nailed costs down (still do actually) but now I have an invoice from their shipping agents in Brisbane Australia. They have sent me an invoice which I attach just for fun to show the bullshit that goes on at the wharves. It's a good figure! ETA for ship to arrive is the 11th. Of course the guy I did the deal with and put through the hoops at Moss, well hey my email bounces back". -- Peter B.

This is too important not to post. This is an example of shipping charges and taxes and tariffs you might incur with international shipping. Mind you this is NOT an invoice for the windscreen or the sea shipping charge from the supplier (which has already been paid).

This is an invoice for import taxes and handling fees at the port of destination only. These fees substantially exceed the original purchase price of the windscreen (not counting the shipping cost).

Notice that Australia government also adds 10% GST on top of the service charges, figuring the service charges are value added to the value of the merchandise.
