Remove the locktab washer next. The inner diameter of the washer has a finger that hooks into a hole in the front of the axel housing to keep the washer from rotating. Pull the washer out slightly, then lift the rear edge of the washer above the end of the thread, then push forward a bit to disengage the inner finger from the hole.
