I just finished refreshing my front shocks per FS-129. Since the frame is on a rotisserie I couldn't use the first method shown in FS-116 to remove the springs, so I fabricated my A-arm spring compressor using two 5/16" turnbuckles and two 5/16" threaded rod pieces 6" long. I replaced the RH thread end hook on the turnbuckle with the threaded rod and fed it through the two holes in the spring pan and used 5/16" threaded connectors instead of nuts on the end to provide more length under the spring pan for the wrench to grab onto. I ran the threaded connectors up as far as I could on the threaded rod until my 1/2" deep socket bottomed out and the finished by using the turnbuckles until the bumper surface on the swivel pin rose above the bumper. As the bolt behind the bumper started tilting to one side I switched to tightening the other side. The total cost was less than $10.
