The MGA With An Attitude
TOOL ROLL, Larger and very nice - TP-101TR
Here' a nice tip from Russ Sharples in East Windsor, NJ, USA
I carry tools and spares in the car at all times as I expect most of us do. I used to have a black MG logo tool bag but it was difficult to find anything in it without unpacking the whole bag. I used baggies to organize tools (e.g. screwdrivers, wrenches, sockets) but still I had to remove all those baggies and lay them out to find anything. I have switched to this BucketBoss tool roll with 6 compartments and it works really well. I have labeled the compartments with a sharpie. It measures about 8" in diameter and 14" long when rolled up. It fits very nicely next to the spare on the passenger side of the boot.
The first shot below shows the tools I carry. The bag on the left has lengths of wire and a set of alligator test leads. In the middle there is a hacksaw... why not, I got room. There is a spark plug tester and two meters - I find an analog one is good for generator testing while the digital one is good for continuity. The little container in the middle has bolts and nuts and hose clamps and screws.
I also carry a box of spares. The box is a plastic tub about the size of the battery and sits in the empty battery box. It has: tow cable, Facet fuel pump, fuel filter, plastic ties, CRC spray, brake fluid, an entire ignition system except the distributor body, throttle cable, fan belt.
I've noticed that there is more space to be had in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the heater shelf opposite where the wiper motor is and I plan to develop some kind of storage solution there also. -- Russ
