MG EX179 1954 EX-179 rebodied in streamline form from a 1952 EX175 prototype. Speed record 153 mph - Also averaged 120.74 m.p.h. for twelve hours. This car combined a prototype MGA chassis with an unsupercharged modified 1500cc TF engine, driven by George Eyston. Click for more information.

EX-179 1956 (Completed after EX182) EX-179_1956 Engine Straight 4 Front mounted 1.6 liter / 97.6 cu in, 2 valves / cylinder DOHC, Carburetors, Rear wheel drive, Top Speed 274 km/h / 170 mph. At one time held almost 100 International and World speed records. Later refit with a 948cc Austin engine for its last trip to Bonneville in 1957 setting new records in its class. EX-181 (Completed after EX182) 1957 EX-181 driven to land speed records at Bonneville. Mid engine, 1600cc dual overhead cams and supercharged BIG time.
    23 Aug'57 - 1489cc producing c290 bhp @ 7000 rpm - 245.64mph - 395.31 km/hr
    3 Oct'59 - 1506cc producing over 300 bhp @ 7300 rpm - 254.91 mph - 410.23 km/hr

EX-182 1955 LBL304 registered EX-182 Four cars originally built for Le Mans (redesign from EX-175). The EX182 project ultimately spanned several years. EX182/38 was recently recovered from long term storage of 25+ years. One original Le Mans car was "refurbished" in 1958 to Twin Cam spec's. The SRX210 car in 1959 is now believed to be a later result of the EX182 project. Click for pictures and more information.

SRX 210 SRX210 Modified body MGA fastback coupe Modified Fastback, Twin Cam, Le Mans 1959-61.
MGA Twin Cam SRX 210 competed in the 24 hour Le Mans race three times between 1959 and 1961. In 1960 it finish first in class and 12th overall. Now believed to be a reincarnation of LBL303 EX192 car, probably using a 1955 Le Mans body shell. Click for more information (Twin Cam section).

Sebring 1958 - No works MGA entered.
Sebring 1959 -Four late 1958 or early 1959 Twin Cams. These were originaly roadsters which were converted to coupes by the competitions department. Click for more information
Sebring 1960 - Five Twin Cams - late 1959 production, supplied by the factory, four cars entered by Hambro, three cars to race plus 1 for practice. The 5th car was sent to Canada. Roadsters with alloy hardtops for lightness. Click for more information.
