MG2006 Update
Every five years all the North American MG Registers get together for an all register meet.
There will be cars from Prewar to the end of production representing all of North America. We are caravanning from Chicago to Gatlinburg. At last count we have eleven cars registered and planning to join us for the cruise down. You save $15 by registering on line at the MG2006 website. Barney has placed a link on our Homepage to their site. Diana Gonzalez has researched the hotels and recommended the Glenstone Lodge at 504 Historic Nature Trail. You must register for the hotel through the MG2006 site to get the group rates. We are looking at the Great Smokey Mountain Scenic railway tour in North Carolina instead of the bus tour to the Biltmore estate. I have started an email group to keep in touch with everyone. Let me know if you want to be included. If you need more information, contact Diana or me.
Our plan is to leave very early on June 20th, and drive through to Gatlinburg. We will arrive in the evening on the 20th. We have not started planning the trip home yet, but since the Blue Ridge Parkway begins in the Smokies, a nice leisurely cruise north on the Parkway and Skyline Drive is a possibility. We will depart Gatlinburg early on the 25th.
This is going to be a huge event for MG enthusiasts. You will see cars from the thirties through the end of B production in 1980. I believe Reinout's M will be among the earliest cars at the show. We all hope you can join us, it is a great time.
The Glenstone Hotel is booked! There are six other hotels within walking distance on Historic Nature Trail. You have to register on the web site to get information. You do not have to commit to going or pay anything. I am not sure of the status of the other hotels, but if you are thinking about going you may want to book your room. I agree the web site is a pain to navigate, but perseverance certainly pays off in this case.
