We are a month closer to the driving season!
Yesterday, I picked up my seats and promptly put the driver's seat in. Of course, I had to take the car out for a test drive. The clutch and brakes work fine and it is running great as always. The gas gauge also is working fine. I am finishing the interior work from last June and the car looks great. I am working on installing the cockpit rail and really struggling with the two fasteners by the doors. Hopefully I can get those finished today. I am so glad it was 45 degrees out. The to do list is getting shorter all the time and the Missouri Endurance rally is just four weeks away.
We had our driving planning meeting on February 12 at Mack's. Wade announced the events at the last meeting. There are still a few dates to be finalized, but we have many opportunities to enjoy our cars. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Wade for putting together a great plan for 2006. Ann and I will be repeating the Wine, Cheese, and Beer Tour in September.
The swap meet was February 26, and we had one hundred spots rented as of the meeting. I am sure it was a great success as always. Thanks to Jim Evans for all the work he puts in every year to make this a great regional event. If the weather is as nice as predicted I will drive FLOBEAR.
It is now less than four months until MG2006. I will be sending a first email to everyone on my email list in early March. If you do not get an email from me, let me know so I can add you to the list of people interested in going. I continue to hear from members who want to join our caravan to Gatlinburg. I believe most of our group would prefer a two day drive down with a mix of interstate and scenic highways. We have enough people going we may break up into smaller groups. Any one who wants to take more or less time going down can probably join one of the groups.
There are more warm days every week. The driving season is almost here and the roads and our MG's are waiting for us. The test drive yesterday helped, but I am anxious for some serious driving.
See you on the road! - John
