4/15/02 MEETING REPORT
The meeting was called to order at 8:03 PM by Dave Bralich. Forty three members were in attendance. There were no new members or guests present.
OLD BUSINESS
Dave Lieb reported on the Missouri Endurance Rally. They had a record turn out, 24 cars registered and 23 showed up.
It was also discussed that dues are now considered past due. Please send them in if not already done so.
NEW BUSINESS
Maynard Hirsch discussed the upcoming Spring Tune Up Party to be held 4/21 at Mark’s Quality tire in Darien. Scheduled start time is 9 AM. We will meet afterwards for pizza and beer at a local restaurant.
The e-mail list for tech sessions is being redone. If you would like to be on it please contact Maynard.
The Spring Tour, a first, will be held Saturday, April 22, 2002. This is strictly a tour, no points and no competition. It will leave from Crystal Lake and end in Lake Geneva.
Don Anderson discussed the Spring Chicken Rally. It will be on May 5, starting from the old Menard’s parking lot . First car off at noon, approximate finish time will be 3 or 4 pm. It will conclude at Mindy’s Bar BQ.
Bill Mennell talked about the upcoming Funkhana to be help May 19th. The location may be changed. Watch the web site for details.
Tom Josefek discussed the upcoming Land’s End Rally for the weekend of 6/8 and 6/9. Ralley fee for this event is $35 per person and includes lunch on Saturday and the banquet Saturday night. It will end in Mineral Springs, WI. This is about a 220 mile distance with NO stoplights. Four bail out points will be provided. As an added incentive, the hotel will upgrade the first place winner to a Jacuzzi suite at no extra charge.
Rienout Voigt discussed the upcoming Abingdon weekend. It will be in conjunction with the Triple M. The events will include an endurance rally. Peter Thornly will be the keynote speaker at the banquet.
Larry Daniels discussed regalia. New items are a green pocket T shirt and wide bottom mug.
Terry Gaskin handed over the position of librarian to Howard Turk. Please contact Howard if you wish to borrow any item from the library.
Dave Bralich mentioned that on June 16th, Father’s Day, at Blackhawk, the VSCC will have pre WWII race cars along with vintage planes and motorcycles.
July 7th at Elkhart Lake, the American LeMans series, Nighthawk Racing will be there with the MG-Lola LMP-675.
The meeting concluded with a presentation by Dick Kreines and Mike Besic on the world’s fastest 4 cylinder Alfa.
The 50/50 raffle was won by Fred Baker
