MINUTES FOR MEETING
July 19, 2004

    Bill Mennell called the meeting to order at 8:10. There were 39 members in attendance. There were six new members present, Ray Hansen, ‘79B, Kevin Brown, ’60 MGA, Ed Motzny, ’55 TF, John Moran, ’76 Midget and Chris Shepard, ’69 C.

PAST EVENTS

NAMGBR Convention, 6/20 -6/27. Four cars from our club attended, the Schroeders, Gonzales’, Goebberts and Tonrys. Next years convention is to be held in Olympia, Washington.
July 3rd was a transmission swap on Mike Hirsch’s ’78 Midget.
July 16-18 was the Road America Camping trip. Good weather and a good time. Four club members participated in the race, Kelvin Palmer, David Bralich, Chris McGrath and M.L. Hillard.

UPCOMING EVENTS

August 1st, multiclub picnic at Curt Bork’s. Details on the website.
August 7 and 8 the Miata Autocross in South Bend. We are invited. Preregistration is required. Check the Windy City Miata Club’s website for details.
Weekend of August 13 is the University Motors Summer Party including the Grand Tour of the Lake.
August 29, Warenville Autocross, details to follow.
September 12 the British Car Festival at Morraine Valley College. We need volunteers to help marshal the event. It is the largest British Car show in the US.
September 12 is also the 50th Anniversary at Watkins Glen.
September 24-26 is the annual Abingdon weekend. Contact Jim Evans or look on our website for details.

REPORTS

Dave Lieb reported on the library.
Barney Gaylord reported the club obtained two new tools, an air-acetylene torch kit and a stud welder for body repairs.

The 50/50 raffle prize, was won by John Moran, $29 and a helicoil kit, donated by Barney Gaylord was won by Mike Hirsch.
A program on racing followed the meeting. It was given by Kern Fisher.
