08/21/00 MEETING REPORT
The August 21 meeting of the CMGC was called to order at 8:15 PM. Tom Josefek, Diana Gonzales and Sharon Anderson were the officers in attendance.
Three new members were introduced at the meeting; Frederich Baker, Bill Cantrall and Janet Tomaskovic. Welcome!
OLD BUSINESS
The Lucas Night Rally was held Saturday, August 5th. There was a poor showing of MG’s, with our guests, the Miata Club outnumbering the MG’s 2:1.
Abingdon Trials were run for the 2nd year and there were 8 cars entered,
7 finished. Participants could decide to do it in 24 hours or two 12-hour segments. Thad and Dad Coursinal from Holland, MI won and will be the lucky ones to write the Abingdon Trials for next year.
Abingdon 2000 Summer Party was a huge success. Great weather! 120 cars registered for the event. Positive feedback from all who attended.
Siemens Autocross will be held on September 3rd at Siemens parking lot. Check Website for further details.
The Donald Healy Memorial Rally will be Saturday, September 9 as part of the British Car Festival weekend. Starts at The Streets of Schaumburg, 1 Schaumburg Place, Higgins and Route 53, Schaumburg, IL. Drivers meeting at 11:30 am, first car off at 12:00 noon.
British Car Festival is Sunday, September 10 at the Oakton Community College in Des Plaines. Time is 9:00am to 4:00 pm.
NEW BUSINESS
Land’s End Rally will be held September 22-24, 2000. Meeting point will be TA Travel Center, Route 20 and I-90. Starting time 10:00 am. Cost is $35 per person for rally and weekend meals, Rally alone is $15 per person.
Progressive Dinner will be Saturday, October 14, 5 - 10PM. Contact Deb Mennell if you are willing to be a host. This is a new event and we need participants to make this work.
Christmas Party: We are looking for suggestions for a place to hold this years Christmas Party Room must hold 100 guests. Any ideas call Diana Gonzales or Sharon Anderson.
MG 2001 - Dates are July 2-6, 2001 in St. Paul. MN. CMGC will call to block off Rooms at the 4 Points - 612-627-1792. Call to make your reservations now if you want to be with our group.
50/50. Three Abingdon “Race” t-shirts were donated for the 50/50.
