CMGC Warrenville Autocross
August 24, 2003 - Warrenville, IL
Many thanks to Bill Mennell and Don Anderson for a fine gymkhana at the AMC Cantera parking lot. Of course I was a bit biased, since it favored Midgets. But then, it is hard to set up a course in that parking lot that does not favor Midgets.
Sixteen drivers showed up with two MGAs, three Midgets, seven MGBs, a Bugeye Sprite, an Austin-Healey 3000, a Morgan Plus Eight, and a Triumph TR8. The course featured a fairly long straight at both start and finish along with a five-cone slalom with a hairpin on both ends. We each took three runs on the course and then we swapped the start line with the finish line and took three more runs the wrong way. Your best run clockwise was averaged with your best anti-clockwise run to yield a composite score.
We will be back at this facility on September 21st as the guests of the Austin Healey Club. Come on out and see what they can do with the islands.
