Fred Dornbach called to ask if the club could use a parts cleaner. Since I was covered with grease at the time I very nobly volunteered to take it off his hands. He said I could have it as long as I promised to pass it along to the club when I'm done with it. I'll have to have that spelled out in my will. In the meantime, if you have a batch of parts to clean you're welcome to bring them to my place and use Fred's parts cleaner.
By the time you read this I should be back from a trip to Ireland with some tales from the other side of the road.

Business Meeting Minutes
Monday, September 21, 2009
Attendance: 34 members
The monthly meeting was called to order at 8:00 pm by President, Jim Evans.
Jim recognized new member – Nick Nichols - in attendance tonight.
Current Car Projects –Barney Gaylord is working on handicap lift. Jim Evans related the difficulty in retrofitting a boot luggage rack. It appears the mounting locations are not standard and it took five different racks to find one that would fit the predrilled holes in the car boot. Dave Bralich experienced clutch slave cylinder failure returning home from the Orphan Car Picnic.
New member – George Mack – of West Chicago is looking for assistance in identifying ‘strange noises’ in his ’72 Midget’s transmission. He is not sure if these are ‘normal sounds’ or if a problem is developing. Anyone able to help can call George at 630-293-7570.
New Member looking for a car - Michael Ghelfi of Orland Park, IL is looking for car. He had a 1959 MGA a number of years ago and would like to ‘relive the past’ and acquire a ‘new’ vehicle. You can contact Mike at 708-532-8959.

September Tech Session – was held at Dino Perez’s garage in Lake in the Hills on September 6th. The event focused on the MGB electrical systems. Dino corrected a number of wiring problems with Dave Ransom’s MGB and demonstrated some techniques to analyze an electrical fault.
University Motors of Grand Rapids, MI – John Twist held a ‘garage sale’ on 8/22/09. No one present tonight attended this event
Orphan Auto Picnic, Yorkville, IL - The Chicagoland Corvair Enthusiasts sponsored an appreciation fun get-together picnic at the Kendall County Fairgrounds. Over 200 car owners attended. Twelve CMGC cars were present.
Lucas Night Rally – There was a light turnout for this fun rally coordinated by Jim Evans.
Austin-Healey Club of America Rally – Attended by two CMGC members bringing home trophies.
British Car Festival – Oakton Community College, Des Plaines, IL – This event drew quite a crowd with over 590 cars and 10

vendor tents. The weather was perfect. Unexpected cancellations by food vendors made it difficult to find food, but did not dampen the spirit of the attendees.
Lighthouse & Libations Tour - Sponsored again by John & Ann Schroeder traveled to Northwestern Michigan touring lighthouses and wineries/breweries. 22 cars participated in this popular event.

10/11/09 – Lion’s Club Car Show – Morris, IL
10/25/09 – Halloween Rally – will be in the Northwest suburbs – details to follow.
11/08/09 – Fall Tune-down and Chili Party – Dave Bralich again will sponsor this event at his house. The event will focus on safety checks along with preparing the cars for winter storage.
11/26/09 – Cruise the Rock – Chicago, IL – The annual event originated and participated by the CMGC is being organized again by Ann & Jake Snyder.
Guest Speakers – Dan Herman presented an overview of the Fall Colors Tour to be held in October in the Galena Territories area. This one-day event will take in the breathtaking scenic displays of Fall color in the Galena area. Dan has packaged a two-day event to include ATV excursions on a 14 mile trail, if there is interest.
Dino Perez demonstrated the correct techniques in waxing and buffing your car’s finish for a professional look. Dino explained the differences in finishes and the proper equipment to use.
50/50 Raffle – Jon Josefek went home $9 richer and Craig McCloud became the proud owner of a Classic Motorsports tee shirt.
