Emergency: an unexpected occurrence demanding prompt action to prevent the loss of life, serious injury, or destruction pf property. No, this is not a vocabulary lesson but an explanation of why I wasn’t at the November club meeting. While washing the dishes that Monday afternoon I noticed that my feet were getting wet, not a good thing. Open the cabinet and look under the sink, the trap was probably knocked loose. No. The water is coming out from under the dishwasher.
Pull out the dishwasher but I can’t find anything amiss. Run some more water and eventually find that the water is coming out from behind the wall. Out comes the sawzall. A PVC fitting (not the joint) in the waste line had broke, and when large amounts of water, such as when pulling the sink stopper, would hit the fitting out it would pour. We didn’t get everything back together until after 8:30PM, too late to make the meeting. But if I hadn’t have finished Deb would have killed me, hence the prevention of loss of life as mentioned above.
With no regular meeting in December, we have no new books to spotlight this month. Anything due in November can be brought to the holiday party
or held until the January meeting. If Deb and I don’t see you before, here’s wishing you a safe and happy holiday season.

No Meeting in December
By long standing club tradition, there will be no club business meeting in December, as the typical date falls too close into the range of the holiday season. Next club business meeting will be on January 19, 2009 at Mack’s.
All British Car Swap Meet & Autojumble
This year’s event is set for February 22, 2009. We will be at the DuPage County Fairgrounds once again. This event has evolved into our club’s major fundraiser each year and much help is needed from members. Specific times and tasks can be assigned; sign up sheet is at each club meeting or call/email Jim Evans for an assignment.

The Final Search!
For the final search of this year is on December 9th, we'll go to a cool place which is kind of an experiment. No Irish Pub, no micro brewery, no yuppie bar, no gourmet quiche, no flavored cafe lattes, no stone pizza oven and no wood burning grill. Just a plain old and simple neighborhood bar with really great home made Pizza, friendly service, inexpensive brews, ample parking and several TV screens to follow while the Bulls host the New York Knicks. We think you'll like it. This is more like a low-key local establishment, without even their own website with directions or a menu.
Directions: Coming from the South on I-294 you take the Dempster East exit, go for about a 1/4 of a mile and turn North on Potter. After another 1/4 of a mile, turn West on Ballard and the Countryside Saloon is on the left side of the road. Coming from the North exit on Golf, go East and after about 1/4 of a mile turn South on Potter. After about 1/2 mile turn West on Ballard and you'll find the saloon on the left side.
The place is quite large and we have no formal reservations. Let's just go on the right side of the bar when you enter. We can hang out at the bar or grab a couple small tables so that we can mix and talk to all MG friends. And make sure that you get your own tab when you order food and/or drinks.
