On December 7th the MG faithful gathered at Bela Vista Banquets to celebrate the Holiday Season in style. 83 members of the Vintage MG Car Club and the Chicagoland MG Club began the evening with the traditional cocktail hour and PowerPoint slide reviewing the year of club activities, rallies and tours.
Vic L'Heureux acted as this year's MC and initiated the evening’s itinerary. This year a new wrinkle was added with Reinout Vogt (Driving Events Coordinator) starting off with club driving awards. Reinout presented a number of driving awards for best driver-navigator, event placement and a number of other categories. He did this in a very efficient and timely manner.
With the awards done, a prime rib dinner was
served. A bottle of champagne was given to each table compliments of the club in order to ensure a festive atmosphere. Santa and his elf did not visit this year as he had a conflict but the club was treated to a Broadway level performance of the "Abingdon Players" with musical accompaniment by the "The Singing Magnettes". The "Players" performed a rendition of Brokedown Abbey.
The performances were well received by the party attendees and there is rumor of a possible return in 2014??
Victor then presided over the door prize announcements and the Christmas grab bag. This is probably the largest dual gathering of the Vintage and Chicagoland MG folks. 2013 saw more cooperative events between these 2 clubs and 2014 looks to be even better !
