Monthly Meeting Minutes January 18, 2016

CMGC president Dave Novak opened the meeting at 7:59 pm and asked for the election official Dave Bralich to announce the voting results. He noted that 67 ballots were received prior to the deadline. He further certified that there was only one ‘write-in’ nomination received – Donald Trump. The election winners were: Dave Novak-President, Ray Hansen-Vice-President, Victor L’Heureux-Secretary, and Phil Wydra-Treasurer.

Welcome & New Members
Todd VanSlyke is the owner of a 79 white MGB with a modified 4-cylinder engine. Todd joined in August.

Car Projects
Bill Kalafut has been updating his seat cushions. He found that this was not as easy as had been informed. The reclining mechanism came apart easily but no so with the reassembly. One seat completed, one more to go.
Tim Schafer is working on refurbishing the radiator of his 79 Midget.
Pat Guest is working on the undercarriage of his 74 MGB.
Seth Jones noted that he has been working with Rajbinder Sandhu replacing a throw-out bearing in his 73 Midget.

Guest Presentation
A video presentation of a number of vintage T and M-series MGs and Airline coupe's previously shown on the MG Cars Channel.

Break/ 50:50 raffle – Bill Kalafut was the winner and received $49

  Meeting Business
Club locker – Jim Evans noted that the spare auto parts inventory has now been sold to a single buyer for $300. The garage sale hosted last August netted $250. We will be moving from the existing 10’x10’ space to a 5’x10’ space. The club tools and Swap Meet materials will still be housed in the storage locker.

Upcoming Driving/Social Event Schedule
January 22-24 - Amtrak trip to Detroit to visit the Auto Show.
February 15 – Annual Business meeting - CMGC
April 17 - Swap Meet, 3rd Sunday in April. Same location at the DuPage County Fair Grounds. Final contract has not yet been signed.

Special Presentation
Reinout Vogt noted that there are members in our club working ‘behind the scenes’ providing guidance and not getting recognition. Malissa Perez hardly ever places in competition, but scores very high in MG spirit, offering help, staffing, organizing, and promotion of the clubs while she participates in the events. The Navigator of the Year award was presented to Lisa.

A special ‘Thank You’ goes out to Sundy Mead for the donation of a Mitsubishi digital projector to the club for its use.

Next CMGC Meetings
February 17th - We will have our annual Business Meeting with reports from each of our staff positions telling us of their past accomplishments and their plans for the year 2016. We will also be presenting our club awards for 2015 - Looking forward to this event.

With no further business to discuss, elected president Dave Novak closed the meeting at 9:21 pm.
