Club Driving Awards—2014
Maintaining the Breed - Commendable efforts in restoration work
Although this award speaks for itself, the meaning is stretched a little bit for 2014. Steve Skegg has been fixing/refurbishing British cars for some time now in his 4-car garage as a hobby. With retirement in the wings Steve has considered this hobby as a future full time venture. It is not uncommon to see at any given weekend TRs, Mini-Coopers, MGs and other British cars lined up for some kind of help. Between the car repairs and the many marathons Steve participates in, I don’t know how he finds the time for a full-time non-car related job.
Safety Fast - Success in competitive driving
This award is for driving an MG in competitive events and following the theme of ‘Safety Fast’. Richard Meservey participated in competitive events and placed in a few. Not bad for a first time entrant.
Ambassador at Large - Promoting Goodwill towards the club
If you have been following the Driveline recordings of ”MGAguru is on the Prowl“ over the past several months you soon realize this member is quite busy promoting the ‘Keep them on the Road’ slogan. Barney Gaylord has visited over 30 British car clubs and not just a visitor but providing technical expertise to assist other clubs’ members with their car maladies. I almost can hear the William Tell Overture in the background and a silver bullet on the pavement.
