(Continued on page 9)

The Swap Meet is organized and conducted by our club alone although it has the enthusiastic support of all the other British Car clubs in Chicago. This event includes all marques of European sports cars and motorcycles and is conducted with the goal of providing a meeting place for buyers and sellers of used parts, new

parts, accessory items, tools, memorabilia, and just about anything else of interest to the European sports car and motorcycle enthusiast.

This year’s Swap Meet was successful although attendance was down from last year — both vendors and customers, Weather was very good: sunny at about 58° F with no snow or rain. Our 13,200 sq ft facility had 74 vendors occupying 96 spaces (out of 102 available) displaying their wares. Over 550 shoppers participated. Since its beginning, this event has proven popular with British car enthusiasts from throughout the Midwest. Buyers and sellers alike travel in from a multi-state area in search of parts, services, regalia and memorabilia items. The four cars in the car corral in the 2nd building drew quite a crowd — one car was sold off the floor.

Also again this year was a raffle offering products such as car blankets, battery trickle chargers and other car-related stuff. Winners needed to be present for the 11:00 am drawing.

Thanks to all our club volunteers that helped in setup, ticket sales, manning the CMGC booths and assisting with cleanup.
