2018 Spring Chicken Run
May 6, 2018

I hope you have saved the date of Sunday, May 6 for this year’s Spring Chicken Run. We will be starting at the same place at the Deer Park Town Center shopping mall on the northwest corner of Rand Road, Hwy 12 and Deer Park Blvd. in the same lot as previous years, next to the Starbucks. It is easy to see once you are at the strip mall. There is also a Panera Bakery just across from the Starbucks. The center of the mall where we meet is on the west side of Hwy 12 for any new drivers that may be joining us.

We will start the Drivers Meeting at 10:30am. The drive will be approximately 1 1/2 hours and we will end up at our house. Yes, we will have chicken. My son is bringing his Shirley smoker over and he will be smoking chicken, and maybe some pork as well.

Our house is located in Ivanhoe, which is a suburb of Mundelein. The address is 21967 Vernon Ridge Dr. The zip code is 60060 for the GPS folks. Also, some people may want to join us just for lunch, and that is OK. Just please let me know so that I can plan the food accordingly.

There will also be a few challenging questions for the navigators to answer along the way. Jana and I look forward to seeing you at this year’s drive. Please let us know if you will be attending so we can plan the food quantity. Also, if there are special food needs, let us know that also.

Car Care Safety Clinic for Seniors
May 12, 2018

A sure sign of Spring is the Naperville and Lisle Townships TRIAD Free Car Clinic for Seniors, Saturday May 13, 2016 from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at the Village of Lisle Public Works Facility, 4905 Yackley Ave., Lisle, IL 60532.

The safety clinic which provides a free 40-point safety inspection of vehicles driven by senior citizens (ages 50 and older). The event grows each year as the Triad organization’s outreach to seniors continues to expand.

Vintage and antique cars will again be on display; most are vehicles owned by our volunteer “car guys” who help perform the inspections. Chicagoland MG Club (CMGC) member Jim Vondran coordinates the Triad car safety clinics and really appreciates the enthusiastic participation of volunteers from the CMGC, the Chicago area Model T Club, and the Chicagoland Miata Club each year.

Please contact Jim directly at (630) 234-7102 to affirm your participation, either as an inspection team crew-member and/or displaying your vintage car, or just stopping by for a portion of the time so that our seniors can see your car while thei r vehicles are being inspected.

EDITOR’S NOTE:
