The Vintage MG Car Club of Chicago welcomes all lovers of vintage MG cars to the rolling hills of southern Wisconsin for the 39th Gathering of the Faithful Central. This event includes the annual gathering of the Triple M Register. The GOF Central will be held at the Lake Lawn Resort, on the shores of Lake Delavan, British Car Hall of Fame member John Twist will be our keynote speaker at the banquet and will do a rolling tech session on Thursday afternoon. He is also a most engaging speaker, and will be the kynote speaker at our awards banquet. John knows more about the mechanics of all MG models than most of us can ever hope to learn. John’s appearance is sponsored by Moss Motors.

Discounted rooms must be reserved by May 26, 2018! After that, the room rate will increase. We can now offer a discounted rate on lodge rooms with balcony sleeping lofts. If you want one of these and have already signed up for a room or rooms, call Lake Lawn Resort and modify your booking.

There will be the usual GOF signature events, including a Rally, Funkhana, Ladies Lunch, First Timers Show, Barbecue, Main Car show along the lake shore, Valve Cover Races, Swap Meet, Vendor area, Banquet, nightly public bonfires and optional boat trips on lakes Delavan and Geneva, shopping in Lake Geneva, and driving tours (both conducted and on your own). The Schedule of activities is below.

There will be two conducted tours. The first on Wednesday afternoon, will be a conducted run to a restaurant in Monroe, Wisconsin. (Lunch will be paid for by participants.) This tour will be led by Dino Perez of the Chicagoland MG Club. The tour will then visit an MG owner’s private collection and return by a different route. You must sign up for this in advance so that a reservation for the right number of people can be made at the restaurant. The second tour will be a tour of scenic roads in the area, and there are many. The tour will be led by Dave Jefferson, of the Milwaukee and Great Lakes MG Motorcar Group (MG3) in a TC.

A third tour will also be a tour in conjunction with the rally, using the same route. For those preferring to “roll their own,” driving instructions will be available to visit several local sites of interest.

All of the events (except driving events) will be held at Lake Lawn Resort. Overnight security will be provided for our MGs, and parking on the grounds of the resort will be provided for trailers.

There will be a silent auction and a live auction. We are soliciting donations of items for the auctions. Look through the stuff sitting on your shelves and in your garages. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure, so donate those “treasurers” to the auction and enjoy the event. There is a space on the registration document to tell us what you are donating. You can bring it with you to the GOF and we will gratefully accept your donation.
