The MGB was Britain‘s best selling sports car and known for going 0-100km/h in 11 seconds flat with just under 100 horsepower. The convertible roadster quickly became the most popular model.
Nearly half a million MGBs were produced from 1962 to 1980 and about a third of them remain on or beside the road today.

Jim Evans spent five years restoring his 1975 MGB only to have his baby mysteriously go up in flames on his driveway on Thursday.
“It was idling in the driveway and I was in the garage and it just burst into flames. I used four fire extinguishers but they didn't make a dent,” Evans said. “I can't believe I lost my car. The fire sped out of control and I had to call 911 and they got it out.”
Evans spent hours and quite a bit of money rebuilding the blue MGB and even installed a new transmission.
“When I got it, it wasn't in too bad of condition. I spent a lot of work on it, it was my little toy. I would take it out twice a week. I had it out the other day and everything was fine,” he said. “It is just shocking how quickly it went. I'm grateful it was in the driveway and not the garage, or my house would be gone as well.”
He says he isn't sure if he will try to replace the vintage car. “Since it is beyond repair I guess the next thing I will have to do is deal with the insurance people.”
This is not OUR Jim Evans, thank God! This unfortunate Jim Evans lives in Brampton, Ontario. But it IS a little too close for comfort, don't you think (Jim), especially with the blue B? YIKES!
