Monthly Meeting Minutes
Third Monday, July 16, 2012
Attendance: 32 members
Dino Perez opened the meeting at 8:00 pm and welcomed new member Phil Wydra and Al Ribsius. Phil owns a 1973 red MGB and Al has a 1977 MGB.
Car Projects
David Woodcock noted that he had a car starting problem. During the Jo Daviess tour sometimes his car did not want to start. After some troubleshooting the symptoms, the problem found was the copper feed wire of the distributor was broken in half and intermittently making contact. A new wire using the original terminals was installed.
Past Events:
Tech Session – 6/23 – Don Haag provided his vehicle for a session involving a windscreen replacement. Four CMGC members attended the session at Don Haag’s garage in Plano. There were a few problems that had to be overcome, but the job was completed successfully. Barney noted that there is a complete write-up on the club website.
Jo Daviess Tour – 6/29-7/1 – Dan Herman noted there were 18 cars successfully completing the tour. Great weather – although a little hot – and good food & drink made for an exciting event.
Lake Shore Tour – 7/8 – Ray Hansen noted that although this is the first running of this event, it was well attended. He requested that in future rallies and tours, participants should notify the rally/tour master that they will be attending the event. This would give the rally/tour master some advanced headcount for planning purposes.
Road America Camping Trip – 7/13-15 – Jake Snyder noted the event was hot! Walking the paddock was an experience and great views of track events made for a great day.

Upcoming Events: - (additional information available on the CMGC website.)
GOF – 7/24-26 – Dino noted that final details are being worked out with the Vintage Club for this event.
Miata Autocross – 7/29 – Joel again noted that this will be the 2nd of four events with the Miata Club. More details to come via email to members.
Land’s End Rally – 8/5 – Russ and Amy Mehaffey are planning to make the Land’s End Rally an old fashioned Rally again in the spirit of the original 19xx Land’s End Trial in England. This event put MG on the forefront of sport car news with the win of Cecil Kimber in Old Number One. The rally will be going out quite far west ending somewhere in Starved Rock State Park near Utica, IL.
University Motors Summer Party – 8/16-19 – Reinout noted this event is actually three events – a rally around Lake Michigan starting on 8/16, a gathering on Friday 8/17, followed with a picnic and car show on Saturday 8/18. Some CMGC members will be involved with the rally, some will travel in caravan on Friday and others will attend the show on Saturday. Mark Michalak will help transporting some picnic equipment for the event. We will need help in setting up and providing food to cook. Please contact Dino Perez if you are willing to help.
British Car Festival – 9/9 – The event this year will be held in Palatine at Harper Community College. CMGC will be assisting in car marshaling again with this event. A sign-up sheet was passed around. Darryl Mayo will be coordinating the efforts.
50-50 Raffle –
Mark Michalak went home $8 richer after having the winning ticket.
Meeting adjourned at 9:09 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Victor L’Heureux, CMGC Secretary
