Chicagoland MG Club entries in the 1996 Grand Lake Tour.

The Grand Lake Tour started as a 1000 mile endurance rally around Lake Michigan. It has also, in past years, explored other territory surrounding the Great Lakes and upper Midwest. This year's Rally is part of University Motors' MG Summer Party Reunion in Grand Rapids, MI.

The rally is a navigational challenge, and is not a Time-Speed-Distance event. Teams (1 car, a driver, and co-driver) are presented with checkpoints at the beginning of the rally. The challenge is to locate and navigate your own route to each checkpoint, and the objective is to be the team who has traveled the least amount of miles. Teams are given roughly 24 hours to accomplish these objectives.

A drivers meeting and odometer calibration run will precede the start of the rally. Open to all British cars built before 1982. For more info contact CMGC member Mark Michalak for details at: michalakmj@hotmail.com

Summer Party Countdown - less than two weeks to the University Motors Summer Party Reunion! A number of CMGC members are planning to attend this event. We would like to have an area cordoned off for the Chicago clubs (VMGCCC & CMGC) to gather for a picnic on the grounds. We will need some volunteers to carry picnic equipment to the site for a grand picnic. Please contact Dino Perez (ii.cap.10@hotmail.com) if you can help.

This event is held in conjunction with the VSCDA at the Grattan Race-track. It is also the focus event for the Vintage MG racers. This will be an absolute-ly excellent time to see vintage MGs on the track - to visit with the owners and to view the MGs in action. There have been many MG events this summer, to be sure but this event is one you don't want to miss!

The 2012 Orphan Auto Picnic returns for another day of classic automotive fun! This year's featured marques will be Nash, Rambler, AMC, Metropolitan, and Hudson. This event is sponsored by the Chicagoland Corvair Enthusiasts.

The event is free and will start at 10:00 a.m. and go to about 5:00 p.m. • Please arrive by 2:00 p.m.

Bring your own picnic items to cook on the provided grills. Beer and soft drinks are provid-ed free. There are plenty of picnic tables provided under the shelter for you. Many raffles will be awarded throughout the afternoon. It will be a great afternoon to enjoy classic cars, music, food and drink with your fellow car enthusiasts.
