Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline August 2013

books The Library Muse

I don’t need to tell you that July was hotter than a three dollar pistol. I believe that I had the B out more often with the top down in December and January than this July. When it’s in the 90s (temp/humidity) give me a closed car with AC. It did turn out to be a relatively nice day on the 21st when Steve Skegg hosted the engine swap on Geoff Morris’ MGB so I drove my blue B over, adding some color to the dammit red and BRG cars that were already there. And what a pleasant surprise. An air conditioned garage with a full lift. It almost made me want to work on my car. Almost.

History’s Greatest Automotive Mysteries
Preston Lerner and Matt Stone, 2012, 252 pages photos, hardbound.

Did you know that a monkey named Jocko Flocko won as many NASCAR Grand National races as Mario Andretti and Mark Donohue? Or who really won the first Indy 500? And what’s the truth behind Smokey Yunick’s ¾-scale Chevelle or Junior Johnson’s ‘Yellow Banana’ Ford? The true stories behind these and other myths and rumors are revealed in this entertaining book
