2018 GOF Central XXXIX
Lake Delavan, Wisconsin
June 27-30, 2018
See you at the GOF
See you at the GOF?” is what many of our MG friends, from the Vintage MG Car Club of Chicago (VMGCC) and the Chicagoland MG Club (CMGC), said when we were about to move to the Atlanta, GA area in October of last year. Of course, we answered ‘Yes’, but there are a few things to remember.
GOF stands for Gathering of the Faithful and were originally the annual meetings sponsored by the New England MG T Register.

But in recent years GOFs (there are several regional meetings every year) have seen an important increase in participation from non-T-Series MGs. First, the relatively small North American Triple M Register (NAMMMR) has piggy-backed several annual meetings on a GOF to ease the organizational and logistical efforts for their limited resources. And second, GOF Central is organized by the VMGCC every couple of years. In 2005, GOF Central in Bloomingdale, IL had hardly any participation from the CMGC or post T-Series MGs. In St. Charles, IL in 2012 the CMGC helped with the organization of several the activities and saw quite some As, Bs, and Cs and Midgets on the show field. And in 2018, the CMGC fully embraced GOF Central. So much so that our CMGC friends with A, B, and Cs and Midgets suggested that GOF Central would be perfect for a ‘home coming’ of sorts, just like our friends from the VMGCC did. We are, after all, members of the VMGCC, the CMGC, and the NAMMMR and for a long time we’ve been living by the motto: if many MGs is good, more MGs (of all models, years, and conditions) is better.

We answered ‘Yes’ but maybe spoke too early or were too optimistic. We only had our cat and a dog and our regular cars. Emma (our 1931 MG M-type) was already in storage in Atlanta. Our trailer was loaded with a few things for the next couple of months but most of our belongings were in containers. And we had no house or garage. Luckily, our move could not have worked out any better. We found a small house, which is what Henneke wanted, with a very large yard, which is what dog Trixi and cat Mimi had in mind, and a large garage with enough space for
