Beginning of hill climb on gravel road

Some of the car clubs here are quite active, to the point where the cars attending look more like a car show than the actual car shows we attended.Ottawa MG Club meeting in Stittsville, Ontario turned out a parking lot full of MGs, including a few interesting saloon cars. Headwaters British Car Club
turned out 40 cars

for a Hill Climb Re-Enactment run. Waterloo British Car Club had at least 25 nice vintage British cars out for a dinner meeting. One car of particular interest here was an American built Intermeccanica Squire SS100 (#37 of 50 produced), a copy of a 1937-1939 Jaguar SS-100 (with a Ford in-line 6-cylinder engine).

Mini tow truck, even smaller than it looks

One last minute shop visit on 24th July was to Britcar Sales & Service in Woodstock, ON (Britcar Service). The owner Philip Allen has been in the business more than 50 years, and he has a little treasure I have never seen before. Several years back I had posted on my web site a complete copy of the Lucas Technical Service "Overseas Technical Correspondence Course", but this is the first time I have ever personally know anyone who had completed the course and held the certificate. The same day we touched
Woodstock Tire Service (in Woodstock) just to check out a Mini "recovery vehicle" (tow truck to us yanks). Then 15 minutes up the road we stopped for a minute at Hilderley Motors in Innerkip, ON, which was a vintage Chrysler dealer, converted to an aftermarket service shop, and now being restored for long term preservation (likely to become someone's personal toy shop).
Not much maintenance required on the MGA this month, just another oil change and replacing a heater valve that only lasted 14-months, 41,000 miles before leaking big time. Also, another set of tires for the trailer which we picked up in Chesterfield, Michigan during a cross-border excursion for a club meeting with Bluewater British Car Club from Sarnia, Ontario, but meeting across the river in Port Huron, Michigan. A bit disappointed the last trailer tires only made 18,000 miles, but the car tires bought in Alaska and Canada last year are doing great.
Until next time, continue to follow our follies at: http://MGAguru.com/mobile
