This was the 2nd annual showing for this event. The night began at SCOOBY'S HOT DOGS (1020 E North Ave, West Chicago) at 6:00 where hot dogs, Polish dogs and mounds of fries were consumed.

The weather was perfect for a night at the drive-in movie. It was cool & clear—no bugs to speak of and the mood was festive. Most folks brought their lawn chairs and snacks although a few visited the snack bar for the traditional movie goodies.

16 cars were lined center-stage for the show and attracted a fair amount of attention and several photos were taken of the cars.



It never fails– every driving event ends up with someone’s car having an incident. Tonight was no exception. Shortly after our arrival, Ralph and Mary Brooks noticed a small amount of Radiator leakage from their engine. It turns out the radiator hose was being held in place with TyRap cable ties!

The 1st movie—Defenders of the Universe— was kind of a silly futuristic action flick. (I got a kick out of a ‘Rocky Raccoon’ character with a bazooka –type weapon blasting anything that moved.) I forgot to bring my ‘boom box’ to tune in the movie FM audio transmission so Ralph Arata and I added our own adlib subtitles to the video. Some folks stayed for the second feature.
