The rains held off and the weather was hot and humid for Thursday’s Westmont Cruisin’ Nights featuring motorcycles and the Chicagoland MG Club. Cars began arriving around 5:00 pm and despite the heat and light chance of rain we had a great turnout. A couple of T-types, a few MGAs, 2 MGBGTs, a Mini, a couple Midgets, many MGBs, a RV8 and a Jaguar E-type. A total of 25 cars were parked with the club. As usual, our cars sparked a lot of interest from the show visitors. Many questions were asked, photos were taken, and a few young car enthusiasts got an opportunity to sit in an old MG. Even club member Jamie Schafer got a kick out of sitting in Bob Lee’s MG TD so she could check-out the leg room!


Around 6:00pm club members participated in the 3rd Annual Walking Rally. Participants had about 20 minutes to run up and down Cass Avenue seeking answers to a multitude of questions about local landmarks and Westmont businesses. Finishing 1st with 19 out of 50 points was James Brennan followed closely by Rich Meservey and Sundy Mead with 16 points and tied for 3rd with 15 points were Dave Newman and Scott Davis. Thanks to all those who participated. We hope you had fun with it while getting a little bit of exercise. Steve Skegg would be proud of you!
Following the Walking Tour we enjoyed a light supper of pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, salad, and baked beans catered by the popular and award winning Uncle Bub’s BBQ of Westmont. The evening passed by with enjoyable conversations, lots of car watching, and even some dog petting. As the sun went down a light breeze picked up making for a beautiful evening. We ended the event with the final tally of the Peoples’ Choice Awards. Jeff and Sharon Powell’s TC took top honor s with Mike Crowley and Rich Meservey in a tie for second and third. Congratulations to the well deserved winners.

Thanks to all event participants! We had lovely weather and a great group of car owners came out. Hope everyone enjoyed the evening. We are looking forward to next year!
