Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline October 2015
Upcoming Event
Fall Tune-Down and Chili Party
Sunday, November 8, 2015: 11 am - 4 pm
82 King Drive - Streamwood, IL

Do you know what your winter project will be? If not come by and I am sure we can find something that should be done before next year’s driving season. I have a low-lift hoist so we can do some underbody inspection or brake work. End of the driving season is time for oil changes, some tune-up work or minor repairs. Bring your own parts, oil and a jug for oil disposal (and yes, you will take your own away).

Chili and drinks will be provided.

Oil Change Day
November 21, 2015

Another event that makes people smile, the Oil Change Day for the homeless clients of Journeys in Arlington Heights. Dave, of Dave’s Auto Clinic is going to host the oil change activity again this year. We’ll do the scheduling differently this year, but location and everything else will be the same at Dave’s Autoclinic in Prospect Heights.

We need volunteers to help change oil and do a little bit of a safety inspection from 12 noon until about 3:00 or 4:00 pm (depending on how many cars are signed up) I will split the afternoon in shorter shifts and if you're able to help, please give me a call at 847 342 9804 or email me at reinoutvogt@gmail.com. In previous years, I was at the counter of Dave's shop, signing people in and out. And therefore I was the one who got to see the smiles and received the thank you's.

Unfortunately the volunteers working on the cars in the shop area sometimes didn't even get to see the car owners. But I can assure you that there always are a lot of smiles and thank you's. And similar to Peds in the Weeds, other people's smiles feel even better than our own smiles. I will have more details in the next newsletter. Keep the tentative date, November 21st, available if you would like to volunteer.

"The more you drive (or change oil) the more they smile".

Cruise to the Rock
Thursday, November 26, 2015

To be driving our cars after most everyone else has stopped driving theirs is quite a thrill. The CMGC have a traditional ‘top-down’ cruise to celebrate the first automobile race in America on Thanksgiving Day in 1895.

We meet at 9:00 am at the historical race monument (the rock) at the west side of the Museum of Science and Industry in historic Hyde Park. Expect local cable TV coverage. We will meet for lunch in a local restaurant.

1895 – The first automobile race in America began, as six cars traveled from Jackson Park in Chicago to Waukegan, Illinois. Frank Dureyea was the winner, traveling at a blazing speed of 7-1/2 miles per hour! It took him 7 hours 53 minutes to make the trek. He won $2,000 for the effort.
