Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline November 2010

The driving season is drawing to a close. It seems to have gone by awfully quickly. My plan to drive my MG more this season actually was met. The 600+ miles driven on the Secrets of Jo Davies County tour alone was probably more that I've driven the roadster in most years for a whole season. I managed to take part in more events that I have in the past, though schedule conflicts did get in the way of some events I would have liked to do. There are some good events yet to come.
The Halloween Run sounds like fun and Reinout has timed it so there's time to get home and take part in Halloween Festivities (or protect your house from Trick or Treater's as the case may be). Cowboy's Tune Down/Chili event is always a good time. I hope to get some help flushing brake fluid on the roadster. Reinout has set up a special event to help homeless people who live in their cars in warm weather and in shelters when it's cold. The aim will be to do basic maintenance and safety checks for those less fortunate during these difficult times. The annual Cruise of the Rock is scheduled again for Thanksgiving Day.
The big wrap up for the Club's year will be the Holiday Party on Dec. 4th at Elm Crest Banquets (where we've been for several years.) The Vintage Club will be joining us again. We've enjoyed this location but as I mentioned at the meeting, it's time to move on. If you know of a facility that can accommodate our crowd and is centrally located close to expressway etc., let us know so we can start planning for 2011.
Thanks to all who have put in time and effort in planning and conducting events to make this a MGreat year.

Safety Fast

Happy 80th Anniversary to MG’s!!! Wow, the weather was perfect for the 80th celebration. It was a little nippy traveling from our house in the morning but by afternoon… walla, it was perfect. The sun had arrived and I think there were about 50 cars; MGB’s, MGA’s, TC, Midget and also a Mini.
Kim Tonry had lined up eight cars to simulate the number eight and eight cars for the zero of 80. The remainder of the cars just parked normally. Kim had this so planned out, he took a photo from the roof top of the parking garage next door. After the photo we had lunch across the street at an Ale House (a very nice place). We totally packed the joint with MG club members. It was even better since the Bears were playing. We all had a very good time, Thanks Kim.
Also a Happy 34th Anniversary to the Chicagoland MG Club Chapter. We had another great turnout for the meeting. After the general meeting we had champagne and cake to finish off the evening.
A hearty congratulations and thanks to all of the staff and helpers for a great year of club activities. And our most sincere thanks to the Vintage Car Club for sharing outings and gatherings with us. It’s always fun to see a mix a marques together… let’s not forget the Midgets and Healey’s too.
PS. Thanks to Dave and Marsella Woodcock for donating the seat back supports to the club. I am so looking forward to our Holiday Party to finish up the year.
