I can’t believe it… As I sit here writing this I have just come in from a great afternoon of driving with the top down. It was an absolutely glorious day out; some of the trees still had color, people were out walking and I saw a massive amount of convertibles out on the roads. The really cool thing about driving a convertible is that if another convertible passes by you, you still wave to each other. It doesn’t matter what make or model, new or old it is still a convertible!!!
The driving season is winding down much to my dismay but as a club we still have several events or gathering still to go. First is the Halloween Run on October 30th. This is being hosted by Reinout and Henneke Vogt. The run will begin at their house in Prospect Hts. at 10:00 AM. I believe this is Reinout’s third year for hosting this great event.
After the Halloween Run we move into November. On the 6th, Dave “Cowboy” Bralich is hosting the annual Fall Tune-Down and Chili Party at his garage in Streamwood. For those that have never been there…he makes some great chili. Also, it gives you a chance to hoist your car off the ground and get underneath to see what is going. Each year besides oil changes and such we have seen things like brake issues, leaks and last year Kyle did some gearbox work.
On November 19th we are having our 2nd Annual Charity Oil Change Day in Prospect Hts. At Dave’s Auto Clinic (801 N Elmhurst Rd. {Route 83}). This is a great opportunity to help out some folks who are much less fortunate than we are. Many people who are homeless live in their cars. This is our way to help them out and be sure that what they are driving is safe.
The final item for November is the Cruise to the Rock on Thanksgiving Day morning (still plenty of time to get home for the turkey!). And the calendar for the year winds up with the Holiday Party on December 3rd at Bella Vista Banquets in Bensenville. The party should be a great time. Once again we will be joined by the Vintage Club and this year with the new venue the price is quite a bit lower than last year.
I hope all of you have had as nice of a driving season as Jan and I have had. We spent many hours and many miles just finding new roads. I guess that is what it is all about.
Safety Fast!

Well another month has gone by fast. The second member garage tour, of hopefully many more, went well. A couple of host garages had to cancel but during October’s club meeting a few others had offered to host their garage. So at the last minute a new tour had emerged.
The weather was misty at first but with the MG rain dance there was no more rain; in fact, the weather was gorgeous. I want to especially say thanks to the members for their hospitality and especially for the Arata's who hosted the final stop and served pulled pork, chips n’ dip and dessert.
Now I am going to try and arrange a garage tour somewhere near the vicinity of the local Chicago area, maybe in the Lake Shore Drive area. Who knows, it would be nice to try something Chicago-related cause we are the “Chicagoland MG Club”.
Well at this month’s club meeting we celebrated our club anniversary with cake and champagne .A brief business meeting that included nominations for next year’s club officers. I was surprised to be nominated for president. Well what have I got to lose?
Don’t forget the Halloween Rally coming up at the end of the month and don’t forget our Natter n’ Noggins gatherings.
